Its mica composition can give that impression. Generally lavender purple, it contains high levels of lithium (but isnt dangerous!). Not discovered until 1861. Birthstone substitute for amethyst. Accompanied by a card detailing the birthstone month, stone name and extra facts. Cat and card are supplied in a "Lucky Gemstone Cat" velveteen drawstring pouch. Size: 1. 5 inches across
