Physostegia virginiana has square stems with beautiful white tubular flower spikes and is a perfect choice for the middle of your perennial border in either full sun or partial shade
They mix beautifully with grasses as well as many other perennials
This beautiful Aquilegia was actually bred for the cut flower production and with its fully double upward-facing flowers it is a stunner
They make a great ground cover or can be used to edge a path

Flowering begins in spring and goes through the summer months. Being biennial, it will establish its leaves in the first year and flower in the second. If you trim back the flower stems after flowering the plant will reward you with another flower
