Verbascum phoeniceum | Violetta Hellebore Perennial | Winter dormantAn evergreen perennial this very pretty Verbascum Violetta has flat faced rich violet coloured flowers held on airy spikey stems. Flowering from late spring to summer the flowers stems rise proudly above the flat rosette of leaves. This Verbascum is shorter than many we do but still a stunning addition to the garden. Vita Sackville West wrote in 1936 that her verbascums looked as though 'a colony of tiny butterflies had settled all over them'.
