Connoisseurs appreciate the smooth single malts produced by the distillery, which is one of the few in Scotland still operating its own malting floors. Balvenie also produces smoky whiskysomething rather unusual for the Speyside region of Scotland. Balvenie 12 Year Old Single Barrel matured entirely in first fill ex bourbon casks.
