Founded in 1817, the distillery has experienced some very dark times: numerous changes of ownership and temporary closures. In 2015, the distillery was acquired by an Australian entrepreneur who breathed new life into Bladnoch and modernized it. Bladnoch matured for 8 years in bourbon barrels with a finish in red wine
