NALA (sustainable, active, true-to-life and enlightening) campaigns against female genital circumcision, Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), worldwide.
According to WHO estimates, around 140 million women and girls are currently affected. In about 28 African countries, in Northern Iraq, Kurdistan, Oman, Yemen and Indonesia, girls are mutilated at the genitals between baby age and puberty. The consequences are massive effects on health, psyche and zest for life.
NALA fights for "education instead of circumcision". The association provides sustainable education and helps through concrete projects: Qualified individual case help, networking, public relations and cooperation work, counselling and educational work in schools and families. The women and girls affected learn to recognise the health consequences and to demand their right to physical integrity.
